Magnesium chloride is a supplement for patients who are deficient in magnesium. Usually a balanced diet will provide all of the magnesium salts required for normal metabolism, however some patients lose magnesium due to illness or treatment with certain drugs. This lack of magnesium may lead to muscle weakness, irregular heartbeats, and irritability.
